🌸Hakodate District Meteorological Observatory announced the blooming of cherry blossoms on April 18 and the full bloom of cherry blossoms on April 23.

This festival is held in order to spread the knowledge and history of Goryokaku, the stage of the Boshin War (1868-1869). The Hijikata Toshizo (famous samurai leader) impersonation contest is very popular.

Hoshi no Yume Illumination is an event where the moat around Goryokaku is illuminated with nearly 2,000 lights to create a star-shaped illumination. Goryokaku is lit daily during the period.

The atrium located on the first level of the Goryokaku Tower is decorated with illumination lights to create a magical atmosphere suitable for the Hoshi no Yume Festival.
